You hit the nail on the head – General food law course…That’s not what we provide. Our course is bespoke and tailored for functional foods that deliver a health benefit. These are labels with claims and a composition that is complex so we are not teaching your staff how to label a tin of soup. We are training your team to assess botanicals, high dose vitamin and mineral products and often substances that maybe borderline medicines. The rise of online training has many benefits including 24/7 access allowing employees to fit training around working hours and what may sometimes be busy periods. The course is designed so that students will have time to fit in the course based on work and lifestyle commitments including that of family. Delivered in smaller bite sized lessons with a practical as well as theoretical approach to learning as well as the ability to re-review training during and for 6 months following the course completion is not an option for in-person training.

The course can be accessed for those simply wanting to gain continued professional development (CPD). On successful completion of all modules and the 16 MCQs within the course then they will receive a CPD certificate covering 21 hours of training time.

MEET THE TRAINER

Dr Mark J. Tallon, LLM PhD

Dr Tallon is a chartered scientist and registered nutritionist with a master’s degree in Nutritional sciences (University of Liverpool), doctorate in nutritional biochemistry (University of Southampton). In addition, he holds master’s degrees in food law (De Montfort), European law (Kings College, London) and Intellectual Property Law (University of Oxford). He has over 200 publications in trade and peer preview and holds followships with the Royal Society of Biology, Royal Society of Medicine and the Institute of Food Science and Technology.

He is past chair and founder of the Food Law group of the Institute of Food Science and Technology and vice-chair of European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) of whom he represented on the Business Expert (Food Standards and Labelling) Group (BExG). His current role is as Managing Partner of the Legal Products Group® representing food and cosmetics businesses and trade associations in all aspects of European food law. He expertise includes the preparation of health claim submissions, product labelling, enforcement defence, novel food applications and cosmetic safety assessments. In addition to his management roles, he is a registered and trained expert witness with experience of being instructed by EU and US law firms in the commercial litigation of food companies.
